SHUSHINKAI LADIES WIN GOLD IN MEXICO KARATE TOURNAMENT October 2011

It’s always great when students from your club win a medal at a tournament, especially so when the students are hard working mums that make that extra effort.

Members Karen Wigley & Paula Davis proved their metal at this years Copa Murayama in Monterrey Mexico. The duo,  both seniors in the school and as well as their busy family lives find the time to be at the dojo at least 3 times a week.

The Shushinkai School visits Mexico every year as part of the Shito Murayama family and this year our two ladies continued the UK medal winning tradition by gaining Gold in their respective fighting events and as a bonus the girls won silver and bronze in the ladies black belt kata event.

As well as the prestigious tournament, we treated to a great open seminar with Sensei’s Murayama and Iwata covering Self defence, fighting & kata. The UK team were also honoured to be invited to train at the Honbu dojo. All in all it was another great trip.

The Shushinkai School would also like to extend our congratulations to Shitokai Ross On Wye member Russell White for achieving his 3rd Dan Meinsho from Sensei Genzo Iwata after grading at the Honbu Dojo. “Well done Russ”.

Next year (2012) will be our 10th trip to Monterrey and the Shushinkai school  are planning to take a team of six of our senior teenagers. We will be starting fund raising for the trip in January.
