Phil Powell 5th Dan Jokyo               

      Has been practicing karate since 1977 his Training  began at a Wado Ryu

    dojo inHereford.In 1982 Phil began practicing in the Shito-Ryu System as

    part  of Master Shigeru Kimura’s Shukokai Group. Kimura Sensei Was a direct

    student of Chojiro Tani In 2003 on a quest for knowledge a chance

    correspondence led to a kind invitation from Sensei Sam Moledzki  Chief instructor

    of Shito-Kai Canada to  train with Master Kunio Murayama in Mexico.

    As a direct result of that meeting, associate Sensei’s Brian Jarvis & Steve Bolland & Phil applied on behalf the

    Shushinkai School for membership into the Shitokai Murayama group. In october 2006 phil tested and was awarded

    5thDan by Kunio Murayama sensei in Mexico. The following year Phil tested for and was awarded his Jokyo teaching licence.
